What is Crowdfunding?
Crowdfunding allows an organization or an individual to raise money through the population and businesses for the sole purpose of carrying out a project.
In exchange, contributors receive something in return such as an advantage, an exclusive product/service, a significant discount or a unique experience. 🙌 The promoter not only receives the money needed to finance their ideas, but they also build a community committed to the organization carrying the project.
Watch our information session (11 min.) and learn more about the concept!
What types of projects are accepted on La Ruche?
All types of projects can be accepted on La Ruche as long as they leave a social, economic or cultural imprint in the regions of Quebec. To name a few, La Ruche helps fund entrepreneurial, technological, cultural, commercial, artistic, educational projects and more!
Projects can be led by a legally constituted organization, an independent worker or be the subject of an individual project. To access La Ruche's additional funding programs, projects must meet the conditions specific to each of them. We invite you to browse the Our programs section or contact a member of our team directly.
Do not hesitate to validate with us if your project corresponds to the principle of crowdfunding! 🙂
What can I fund in a campaign?
You could finance the organization of a cultural event, the development of a new product/service, the expansion of your sales space, the rental improvement of your commercial premises, the redesign of your online store, the start-up of a new company, the launch of an album, etc.
Then, to apply to one of the additional funding programs, your request must fit into the targeted objectives. For example, the start-up of a zero-waste grocery store would possibly be eligible for the Less is More Fund (FMC+) since the project mainly aims to reduce residual materials (objective of the program). Thus, if the request is approved, an additional amount will be given on the condition of succeeding in the crowdfunding campaign on La Ruche.
Want to familiarize yourself with how it works? It's simple! 😎 First start by watching our information session "What is crowdfunding and the unique concept of La Ruche? » or contact a member of our team directly to discuss your project.
How long should I expect before my campaign goes live on La Ruche?
Depending on the level of preparation, some campaigns go live quickly (between 2 and 4 weeks) while others require a few months to polish the page, structure the offers and establish a promotional strategy. Although each campaign is unique, we generally recommend a minimum of 5 weeks to properly cover all aspects. Know that La Ruche accompanies each project leader according to their needs at all stages. 🙂
If your project is eligible for one of the additional funding programs, you will need to allow additional time for the approval process (4 to 6 weeks, depending on the case).
Do not hesitate to contact a member of our team to discuss your situation.
How can I submit my project to obtain additional funding?
Submitting a project on La Ruche does not necessarily mean that you will be able to benefit from one of our partners' additional funding programs (grants, loans or grants). Each of them have their own conditions and objectives; your project will then have to fit into these criteria to submit an application. Once your project is approved, that's when you can fully focus on finalizing your campaign page. 📝
You can consult the general conditions specific to each program in the Our programs section or directly contact a member of our team to discuss the orientation of your project.
