The Less is More Fund (L+F) is a joint initiative of RECYC QUEBEC and La Ruche that seeks to boost innovative projects that support waste management initiatives (reduction at the source, reuse and waste prevention).

Get up to $50,000

The FMC+ strives to engage and mobilize the public as well as to stimulate the launch of eco-responsible businesses and projects throughout Quebec. This program represents $1 million in funding over 3 years.

You could receive a grant representing the amount of your goal up to a maximum of $50,000. For example, if you collect $30,000 through the community on La Ruche, you can receive an additional $30,000 to complete your project.

Create your crowdfunding campaign

First, launch free campaign page on La Ruche. Then, our team will support you through every step in order to maximize your chances of success.

Reach your goal

Launch your campaign, mobilize the community around your idea and get monetary contributions in exchange for rewards, such as an exclusive perk/product, a significant discount or a unique experience.

Get additional funding

Get an additional amount from the FMC+ equivalent to the amount of your campaign goal in addition to the multiple contributions from the general public and businesses.

The 3 objectives of the L+F

The project must meet at least one of the following objectives and have a multiplier effect:

Reduce waste at the source
Re-purpose waste materials
Prevent or eliminate waste

Specific objectives
The project must meet at least one of the following objectives:
  • Waste reduction at the source
  • Repurposing materials
  • Prevention, reduction or elimination of waste into the environment.

Eligibility criteria
  • Open to businesses of all types and accessible to all types of promoters, everywhere in Quebec;
  • The offer is conditional upon the success of the crowdfunding campaign on La Ruche;
  • The campaign must have a minimum goal of $5000 (therefore a total financial need of $10,000, considering the additional FMC+ contribution of $5000;
  • Applicable exclusively for a new project, i.e. a project with a start and end date as well as an established financial objective. All details are defined in the FMC+ Policy;
  • Not intended to fund regular operations or grants;
  • Must not have received any other additional national public funding within the framework of the same project or support from RECYC-QUEBEC for the same project.

All eligibility criteria are defined in the FMC+ Policy.

Other details
  • You must clearly define your project in the project segment, which means you must clearly define a start/end date, list the needs to be met and determine the campaign’s financial objective. (The La Ruche team can help you through this process);
  • Expenses that are outside of the project are not eligible for the FMC+ (Review all eligible expenses in the FMC+ Policy);
  • To receive the contributions paid from the contributors and the FMC+, the promoter must collect the total amount targeted (or exceed the goal) for the realization of their project;
  • Not eligible: Projects with organizations whose objective is to collect sums used strictly to finance/redistribute grants thereafter within the framework of its business.
